RISE Student Ministry
Any ministry that is going to be successful in advancing the gospel begins with relationships. Our first priority as leaders of the youth ministry is continuing to grow in our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We strive to lead students to desire and develope their own personal relationship with Jesus. This only happens after we invest time and effort to build positive, trusting relationships with each student who walks through the doors of our church. Finally, we encourage students to relate to one another with the love that God has called us to, and treat those outside the church walls with the same love and compassion that Jesus did.
While we want students to have lots of fun when they join us for Sunday School, Wednesday nights, and any other event that we organize or attend, our greatest responsibility and joy is teaching them the truth that God has given us in the Bible. As a ministry, we believe that the Bible is the perfect, holy, inspired Word of God. His word never changes, never fails, and never loses its power to convict our hearts and point us back to Jesus. One of our primary purposes as a ministry is to instruct students in what the Bible says, help them understand it, and challenge them to apply the truth of scripture to their lives.
When a person comes to know Jesus, the love He has shown us inspires us to love and serve others. In leading the ministry, our intent is to serve the students that God has placed in our lives in whatever way we can. Through leading by example, we hope to stir in the hearts of our students a willingness and passion for serving others and provide them with opportunities to serve. Our students will learn to be active, participating with members of their local church by serving within the church itself. In addition, we will take students out into different areas of the community to meet the needs of others and share the gospel, including one week spent serving at Camp Generate during the summer. Students within this ministry will be challenged to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving those around them.
We do all these things with the ultimate goal of equipping students with the knowledge and tools they need to be committed followers of Jesus Christ. In a world that is constantly trying to distract or pull them from the truth of who God is, we want to develope followers of Christ who have a personal relationship with Jesus, know what they believe and why they believe it, and have a desire to love and serve others as Jesus did. We hope to build a generation of believers who are equipped to RISE up and boldly live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Act 26:16 But rise and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you,
Women's Ministry - WMU
The Woman’s missions ministry within our congregation, Helping Hands Ministry, is known at the state and national level as the “Woman’s Missionary Union”or WMU. This ministry was founded in 1888 and has been serving faithfully for over 125 years.
We believe missions is a lifestyle and seek to encourage and provide opportunities for all of our members to engage in, pray for, educate about and support missions endeavors. We also strive to cooperate with other churches and the Union Baptist Association.
How do we do this at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church:
- praying for and educating ourselves about local and world missions.
- financially supporting the following ministries: Lottie Moon Christmas Offering; Annie Armstrong Easter Offering; Baptist Children’s Home; Christian Woman Job Core; Red Box Prison Ministry; Hygiene Kits for the UBA; Relay for Life; Donna Pittman Toy Store; Packs of Love; Crisis Pregnancy Center; Gift cards for area schools; “Recharge” Wednesday night supper; gift cards and donations to our members who may need support.
- We also present bibles to newly married couples of the church.
- We also organize and support bridal and baby showers.
Why do we support and do what we do? Because we care. Because God sent His one and only Son for us, and all those who accept Him as their Lord and Savior.
Please come join us the first Wednesday night of each month at 7pm.
Team Kid - Summer Jam
Deut. 6:6-7 (CSB)
These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart. Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
We have started back Team Kids meeting on Wednesday nights during services starting at 7. Taught by Candace Cameron and Abbey Funderburk. We are currently making our way through the Bible, starting from the beginning.
Music and Worship
Worship is God’s children expressing love to their Heavenly Father in response to who He is. It is both a privilege and a responsibility. We serve a God who is deserving of everything we have and we demonstrate this through our worship. Though praise and worship can be expressed in a variety of ways, out most visible way of demonstrating this comes through our Music & Worship Ministry.
We seek to engage people of all ages and backgrounds in worship as we allow God to use our gifts and abilities in service to Him. Our Worship Ministry has two essential parts: Music (soloists, ensembles, choir, instrumental) and Production (audio, projection, video). To find out more about how you can be involved join us Wednesday nights for practice at 8pm.
