Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
Born Charlotte Digges Moon, December 12, 1840, in Albemarle County, Virginia. Lottie rebelled against Christianity until she was in college. In December 1858, she dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Charlottesville, Virginia. In 1873 Lottie was appointed to missionary work mostly in China’s Shantung province. For 39 years she taught in a girls’ school. Lottie Moon was passionate about people knowing Christ. She didn’t hesitate to speak her mind. Disease, turmoil and lack of co-workers threatened to undo Lottie’s work. But she gave herself completely to God, helping lay the foundation of what would become the modern Chinese church, one of the fastest-growing Christian movements in the world. Lottie Moon died at 72. In 1918, Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) named the annual Christmas offering for international missions after the woman who had urged them to start it.
Operation Christmas Child
“Let the children come to Me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14, ESV
The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. Through this project, Samaritan’s Purse partners with the local church worldwide to share the Good News of Jesus Christ and make disciples of the nations.

Building Relationships, Changing Lives
We want to thank you for stopping by and looking over our website mpbcworships. Please take all the time you need to familiarize yourself with the mission and vision of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. We are very passionate about building relationships, locally and abroad, so that lives will be impacted by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
One of the ways we fulfill our mission and vision is by having a vibrant worship service every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. These are specific times that provide us all with the opportunity to worship through song and worship through, not only the hearing, but the application of the Word of God to our lives! Please consider coming and experiencing this first hand.
Another way we fulfill our mission and vision locally is by having a multitude of ministry opportunities. Please look over the events and news pages and get familiar with us before you come. You will find it very easy to connect here and deepen your walk with Jesus Christ.
We also have a passion for missions work abroad. If this is something that you have always wondered about come and experience the journey with us.
If we at Mt. Pleasant can help you deepen your walk with God or answer any question you might have please use the contact page or better yet… come see us this Sunday?
